NEST is organized annually by the NISER Bhubaneswar in collaboration with UM-DAE CEBS. It is a national-level examination that evaluates the aptitude and scientific knowledge of candidates aspiring to pursue a career in science research.

Eligibility criteria for appearing in the NEST Exam:

Age Limit: There is no specific age limit for appearing in the NEST exam. Candidates of any age can apply.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent in the science stream from a recognized board.

Minimum Percentage: Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in the qualifying examination.

Subject Requirements: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology in their 10+2 curriculum.

Year of Passing: Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for the 10+2 examination in the current year are also eligible to apply. However, their admission will be provisional, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria at the time of admission.
